The Fund for Public Health in New York (FPHNY) implements programs in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). To date, FPHNY has administered 129 grants in support of 58 programs and projects, representing over $180,000,000. The programs administered through FPHNY span all six divisions of the NYC Health Department and are categorized below by division. Programs can also be found listed from A to Z.
Disease Control
Identifies, monitors, treats and controls the spread of infectious diseases, and protects the health of New Yorkers during emergencies.
Environmental Health
Identifies and assesses environmental and occupational health risks in New York City. Protects the health of New Yorkers through poison prevention and treatment, veterinary and pest control services, and restaurant inspections.
Epidemiology
Tracks disease and behavior trends to help inform the Health Department's priorities and program planning. Conducts surveys and surveillance, evaluates program effectiveness, provides public health education to health professionals, monitors those exposed to 9/11, and registers birth and death events.
Health Care Access and Improvement (HCAI)
Promotes access to quality health care services for vulnerable New Yorkers through health policy, health information technology, and innovative service delivery.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP)
To promote health, prevent disease and advance health equity among New Yorkers.
Mental Hygiene
Partners with consumers, families, advocates, and providers to ensure access to high quality services and to improve the lives of New Yorkers with mental health and chemical dependency disorders and those with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
